Poor Mans' Rice Cook Book
Crowley, Louisiana: Wright Laboratory, 1963. Octavo, stapled wrappers, [36] pp. A cookbook produced by a family-owned rice enrichment company located in Crowley, Louisiana, the so-called "rice capital of the world." The recipes were all "tested with raw, long grain rice. No quick-cooking or pre-cooked type was used;" the testers were Mrs. S.L. Wright II and her daughter, who are both depicted on the first page of the book. Each recipe is accompanied by a playful cartoon illustration mimeographed from a drawing. Each recipe makes use of rice, and the book includes Louisiana recipes like shrimp jambalaya and Cajun fried chicken. A nice copy with mild toning/offsetting to wrappers. Item #9573
