Various Places: 1882-1890. 8vo, contemporary quarter black morocco with black boards, gilt bands to spine, "Receipt Book" gilt stamped to spine. Includes four rare regional cookbooks, bound without wrappers; three are from Detroit, Michigan, the fourth is from Knoxville, Tennessee. Mild to moderate page toning, spine leather scuffed and chipped, owner inscriptions to front endpaper. Includes the following:

Haws, Steam Book and Job Printing, 1886. [2], 110 pp, Southern recipes includeing Suet Johnny Cake, Soda Beer, and Fritters, plus many pages of attractive local ads appealing to housewives, including ads by Southern patent medical companies related to Women's health. The Spicy Recipe Book. "Variety is the Spice of Life." Compiled by the Young Ladies' Missionary Society Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church. Detroit, Mich. Detroit: 1882. 40 pp, many pages of local ads, a couple of which are illustrated. Not in OCLC. Lacking upper 1/3 of pp. 5-6.
