Various Places: 1882-1890. 8vo, contemporary quarter black morocco with black boards, gilt bands to spine, "Receipt Book" gilt stamped to spine. Includes four rare regional cookbooks, bound without wrappers; three are from Detroit, Michigan, the fourth is from Knoxville, Tennessee. Mild to moderate page toning, spine leather scuffed and chipped, owner inscriptions to front endpaper. Includes the following:

"Bits of Experience." A Recipe Book Compiled and Arranged by the Richardson Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian Church, Detroit, Mich. Detroit: O.S. Gulley, Bornman & Co, 1889. 64 pp. Not in OCLC.

The Tried Friend. "A Friend In Need Is a Friend Indeed." Proved Recipes Arranged and Revised by Ladies of the Fourth Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, Tenn. Knoxville: T. Haws, Steam Book and Job Printing, 1886. [2], 110 pp, Southern recipes includeing Suet Johnny Cake, Soda Beer, and Fritters, plus many pages of attractive local ads appealing to housewives, including ads by Southern patent medical companies related to Women's health.
