Japan: Circa 1890s. Decorative album binding measuring 8 x 6" containing pastoral Asian scenes, containing 48 color tinted albumen photographs, each measuring 5.5 x 4" and bound accordion style. A nice collection of early images of Japan, including photos of geishas, group photos, landscape photos, pastoral images, urban images, hotels, etc. Includes images of the Oriental Hotel in Kobe (the first hotel for western travelers in the country) and the Bellevue Hotel in Nagasaki. A couple of images soiled or worn, but generally quite sharp. The accordion binding has split in several places, thus the images are contained in several bound together sections. Item #5701
