Considered a gem of Beaux-Arts architecture and "absolutely fire proof", the theater cost over a quarter million dollars and was designed by Benjamin Howard Marshall who went on to build several other Chicago landmarks. The text consists mostly of articles on the Illinois theater and the history of theater in Chicago, as well as many local ads. Soiling to covers, smudging to endpapers. Item #5229
