California: Prepared by Machinist Training Committees at Oleum and Los Angeles Refineries, 1941. Quarto, vi, 86 pp, black wrappers with title label. A large mimeographed manual containing six pages of descriptive text on job requirements for machinists at the Oil Company, followed by lengthy checklists of job skills and requirements one must master before starting the job. Each requirement was initialed in pencil by a supervisor once the trainee (in this case David Kneeland) mastered the skill. The book is accompanied by three mimeographed mathematics quizzes (dated 1943) filled out by Kneeland as part of job training, together with 12 calculation sheets filled in with his notes.
