Each two to four pages in length. The letters discuss the whereabouts and status of various family members and also mention conditions at home--snowfall, agriculture, "this is a good farming country. Mostly corn 8 Hogs some wheat," and sickness--A.G. Alden mentions rheumatism and shaky nerves and apologizes several times for the shaky hand he has written in (though the letters are still readable with effort).
