Collection of Invitations to Commencement Exercises and Balls at the University of North Carolina

Raleigh, North Carolina: 1878-1885. A collection of ten printed invitations, together with original mailing envelopes. A collection of graphically interesting invitations to commencement exercises and balls at the University of North Carolina between 1878 and 1885. Many bear Philadelphia and Boston imprints. Includes invitations to five commencement balls (1878, 1879, 1882, 1884, one undated), plus an invitation to the 1878 "Commencement Exercises and Ball." In addition, there are four invitations to commencement exercises (1881, 1883, 1884, 1885). One of the envelopes is labeled in pencil by the owner, a "Misses Roberts", and contains an 1893 invoice written out to F.R. Roberts of New Berne, NC. Invitations in excellent condition, occasional mild soiling to envelopes. Item #15779
