Opening Hymn, University Commencement, September 15th, 1875.

[Raleigh, North Carolina]: 1875. Single leaf printed to recto only, 10 x 5.25". A broadside printing the opening and closing hymns of the commencement ceremonies held at the University of North Carolina on September 15, 1875. The opening hymn is signed in type "W.A.B.", to which an early owner has added the words "of Raleigh" in manuscript. The closing hymn is by "C.P.S.", identified in manuscript as "C.P. Spencer", i.e. Cornelia Spencer, an important poet and figure at the university during reconstruction. Folding creases, some small nicks along edges, very good. Item #15778
