Lawrence, Kansas: Printed by Students in the Haskell Print Shop, 1937. Octavo, stapled booklet, [16] pp, illustrations from drawings and photographs. A program for a 1937 football game between the Haskell Institute, a Native American boarding school in Lawrence, Kansas, and Mcpherson College, a private college associated with the Church of the Brethren located in McPherson, Kansas. The booklet was printed by students in the Haskell Print Shop. The first page contains facts and information about the institute and about Native Americans, followed by four pages printing biographies of the Haskell coaches and players. Among the latter were "Lloyd Yellowhorse, a big and rangy tackle," and "Homer Folsom, a Choctaw Indian from Bokoshe, Oklahoma." The booklet also prints team rosters, facts and figures about sports at Haskell and McPherson, and a page of cartoon illustrations depicting historical sporting highlights of the Haskell team. Haskell had a prominent football program up until the 1938 season, when the school dropped intercollegiate football. Not in OCLC. In very good condition with a bit of soiling to covers. Item #15199
