Photograph Album Documenting the Construction of the Roosevelt Rd Viaduct in Chicago

Chicago: 1920-1924. Grey cloth binding measuring 11.5 x 8", containing 84 linen backed black and white photographs, each measuring 9.5 x 7.5". Each photo is captioned in the negative, and roughly 20 photos are duplicates. Handwritten inscription to front cover reads "Roosevelt Rd Duplicates #1". An album of professional photographs documenting the construction of the Roosevelt Road Viaduct in Chicago between 1920 and 1924. A major engineering project, the viaduct spanned from Wabash Avenue to Canal Street, and included elevated stretches of road and a bridge over the Chicago river. The album includes 27 images by the Chicago Architectural Photographing Company, 49 images by Frank M. Hallenbeck, and eight images by Chas. O. Anderson. The photos depict dredging efforts, the State Street Arch, the 22nd street bridge, the 12th street viaduct towers, workers and laborers, railroad infrastructure, and more.
