Old Blue Stocking Cook Book
Fayetteville, Tennessee: Circa 1900-1910. Octavo, 8 x 5.25", blue wrappers, 119 pp, local advertisement pages throughout. A scarce Tennessee cookbook, prepared by members of the First Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville. The recipes are attributed, and include Janice Meredith's Maize Bread, French gumbo, fried bananas, and Ax Jar Pickle, as well as a few recipes for the sick, and 12 recipes for alcoholic drinks, such as John Dabney's Mint Julep and tomato wine. Clarke Historical Library in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan only in OCLC. In fair condition with heavy wear, creasing and soiling to covers, chipping and tearing to wrappers, staining to pages (quite heavy to a few), rusting to staples, mild chipping to page edges, a few leaves with tears up to 1.5 inches, paper abrasions to a couple of pages.
